The Six Sigma Certification was a feather to the crown of an Operations Manager, however, with the advent of technology and the widespread awareness for delivering quality has now drawn focus of major sectors to adapt the six-sigma approach. Across industries and verticals, six-sigma was been implemented for controlling product quality, improving service standards and controlling costs. It was hence a feather in crown to have Six-Sigma Certification for a management student.

Students from various MBA colleges of STES from Vadgaon and Ambegaon campuses attended the Seminar. The Speaker, Mr. Neeraj Madhekar is Vice President of Yes Bank, an expert in the banking sector, conducted the seminar.

Details of the certification program: The ICICI Securities Ltd. Joint Certification Programme on ” Personal Planning” along with Sinhgad Institute of Management (SIOM) was conducted for MBA II year Finance students with the core objectives:
Sinhgad Institute of management has organised one day seminar on Balance Scorecard for Human Resource Specialization students.
SIOM were the pioneers amongst all the STES institutes to have started teaching through online course material available from Harvard.
Online Course, Spreadsheet Modeling had been taken up by students at SIOM on 8th Jan 14.
More than 474 students (80%) had registered for the online course. The tools available for the facilitator for evaluations are been used effectively to evaluate students for the elective subject ‘Computer Aided Personal Productivity Tools’.

Day 1 & 2: 30th September & 1st October 2013
On both the days’ groups of students at different intervals were given Domain Inputs pertaining to their area of specializations. The topics covered were Core concepts and current trends in the market pertaining to each specialization be it Marketing, Operations, Retailing etc. Concurrently with the Domain inputs some groups were trained and coached in the area of how to crack Personal Interview and GD sessions. After the PI & GD inputs, the students were grouped according to their specializations and a mock interview sessions were conducted of each student by two in-house Senior & Experienced Faculty members
Day 3, 4 & 5: 3rd to 5th October 2013
These days were focused on GD, PI and Domain test, which were conducted by external experts from Industry.

It is essential for the student to know about the Job profile for which they would be applying for placements. Also, it is imperative to understand the company, the markets, processes that the company operates in.
Further these inputs need to be provided as and when required, especially a few days before the placement process commences. In order to provide students with the requisite inputs, SIOM organised Job Profile Inputs and a reckoner on pre-placement activities.
During December 2013, Job Profile Training was provided for 12 companies visiting the campus during that period. A total no of 14 students were benefited from the said activity.
To have a detailed profiling of each student ready before the placements for the next year, an initiative has been taken up at SIOM to evaluate its students on various parameters. This activity will help the placement team to identify the right candidate for the right Job and at the right time.
Training as well as continuous evaluation based on Aptitude test, Domain Knowledge, Group Discussion, Sectorial Presentation and Personal Interview and overall HBSP course Pack Plan will be conducted under the heading of “Profiling Plan” in regular time table of each division. Four hours per week would be allocated in the time table.
