Digital India

Date : 13th February, 2016

A seminar on “Digital India” was organized on 13rd of February 2016 at RMD Sinhgad School of Management Studies. The seminar began with the inaugural session by Mr. Nitin H Deshpande, B.E(Mech), M.E(Production), Ph.D. (Pursuing) with his immense experience to enlighten the Digital India concept. He focused mainly on the objectives, infrastructure & other basic requirements of Digital India campaign.

All the 9 pillars of Digital India scheme were discussed for the overall development of the country. The speakers also guided the students on – How to use these opportunities, how to participate in this scheme, its effects on the society.

Make In India

Date : 3rd March, 2015

A seminar on Make In India was organized on 3rd of March 2015 at RMD Sinhgad School of Management Studies. The seminar began with the inaugural session by Mr. Nitin H Deshpande, B.E(Mech), M.E(Production), PHD(Pursuing) with his immense experience to enlighten the Make in India concept. He focused mainly on the objectives of Make in India campaign. The major objective behind the initiative was to focus on 25 sectors of the economy for job creation and skill enhancement. Some of these sectors are: automobiles, chemicals, IT, pharmaceuticals, textiles, ports, aviation, leather, tourism and hospitality, wellness, railways and auto components, design manufacturing, renewable energy mining, bio-technology and electronics. It hoped to increase the GDP and tax revenue.

The initiative also aimed at high quality standards and also hoped to attract capital and technological investment in India. He discussed the importance of campaign for the manufacturing sector and highlighted the global aspects of Make in India which would raise the standards of the Indian economy.

The second session was conducted by Mr. Sunil Patil, General Manager in Sales and Marketing, Real Estate, Mumbai. He too briefed us on the topic - Make In India. He mainly focused on skills and competencies that the individual should have to develop the nation.

HR Conclave

Date : 5th October, 2013

STES in association with ISTD organized an HR Conclave with Top HR Performers from various Industrial sectors who share their experiences.

HR Conclave Sinhgad Management Institutes in association with Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD) organised a HR conclave on 5th Oct 2013, on the auspicious occasion of beginning of Navratri. It started in a holistic manner with lighting of the lamp and a prayer sung by set of students. Dr. Rajashree Shinde, Director SKN SSBM, welcomed all dignitaries, faculties and students whole heartedly. She briefed the sole agenda of this collaboration. She added the mutual benefits for students as well as industry experts present over there.

Chief Guest and first speaker of the day, Ms Kavita Kulkarni, VP & Head - HR Unit, Infosys Ltd, inaugurated this HR meet with her natural yet commanding voice.

She focused on rare combination of competencies - speed and flexibility. She convinced this by saying that speed of boss is speed of team. She explained expectations of industry in terms of 24 hour TAT (Turn Around time), ability to say “NO” if situation demands, business acumen, coalition building, program and change management, risk taking ability, learning attitude, reading, computer especially MS Excel skills etc. She also discussed about 3 basic needs of employees – need for identity, need for buoyancy and need for equilibrium. Her one and half hour talk provoked many questions in audience. She answered them satisfactorily. Student and faculty couldn’t resist talking to her post speech as well.

Another delegate of this HR Conclave, Mr Ravendra Mishra, Head Human Capital, Garware – Wall Ropes Ltd, focused on behavioural and attitude based competencies of workforce. He insisted on not to wait for direction and invitation. Humility, networking, being influential and competent, professionalism are some of the key competencies he talked out. He requested everyone to take assignments that build their market value. His words – As HR professional, it is easy to teach but difficult to transform oneself – made everyone introspect themselves.
