Civil engineering is a professional Engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings.

Civilization is a continuous process to provide comforts for mankind. Civil Engineering involves utilization of scientific knowledge for welfare of human beings. Over the years, shelter, water & communications have remained always on priority in national planning. Growth of population & urbanization invited new problems in urban planning such as water supply, waste disposal, transportation & global warming.

To overcome all these problems in infrastructural development & to build tomorrow’s India, role of Civil Engineer remains of prime importance even in era of information technology.

Civil Engineering department in RMD Sinhgad School of Engineering, Warje Pune, was established in the year 2011. Along with graduate courses, we have PG course in Construction Management. The alumni Students of Civil Engineering Department have secured several university ranks in examinations & after graduation they have secured key positions in professional organizations.

The Department is enriched with 12 laboratories equipped with sophisticated instruments, experienced & dedicated teaching staff in all specialization of all disciplines of Civil Engineering. The Civil Engineering Student’s Association (CESA) organizes various events like Guest lectures, Student development programs, Alumni meet and farewell party program for last year students. The various site visits are organized by the department for nourishing the practical knowledge of the subjects in each semester.

Ultimately, Civil engineering is an exciting profession because at the end of the day you can see the results of your work, whether this is a completed bridge, a high-rise building, a subway station, or a hydroelectric dam.
