After university examinations of first semester, all the first year students are instructed to visit any manufacturing company (Preferably medium or large scale) during their winter vacations. A predefined questionnaire designed by faculty members is given to the students so that students should get the proper directions about manufacturing terminologies used in manufacturing companies. On the basis of student’s plant visit & information collected with the help of filled questionnaire the students deliver presentations on the respective plant visit. Based on certain parameters student are evaluated and 12 best presentations are selected for final plant visit presentations competition. The main purpose of the plant visit is to get the manufacturing insights like manufacturing systems, plant layout, material handling systems, inventory control techniques etc. In the second semester students have subjects related to manufacturing and operations like Manufacturing & Operations Management (MOM) & Materials & Logistics Management (MLM). These subjects become easy to understand if students can visualize the several aspects of these subjects.
