Essay Writing Competition

About the Activity: An essay writing competition was organized with following topics:-

  1. Bharat Swachhata Abhiyan.
  2. Public Hygiene in Indian Village
  3. Effective Waste Management in Metros of India
  4. India & Cleanliness
  5. Global Worming

Objective of the Event:

The main aim behind organizing this event is:

  1. To provide students with the opportunity to express their ideas through essay writing.
  2. To enable students to understand and appreciate essay writing.
  3. To inspire students to participate and compete in global competition

Audience: MCA II Year students

Group Discussions (GD)

Date of the Event:19th September,2014

Event Organizer: Prof. Madhuja Deshpande & Prof. Vishal  Sahu

About the Activity:

These days many companies include Group Discussion as one of the rounds while recruiting freshers. So apart from training them in aptitude we also arranged few sessions on GD to give a gist to the final year students.

Groups comprising of 10-12 students were formed and given topics pertaining to current issues. The team members were given some time to collect their thoughts. Then they were allowed to discuss in allotted time.

After the GD, Prof. Madhuja Deshpande gave suggestions to students indicating their weak areas for improvement. The students were also appreciated when they performed well and thus motivated for a better performance during actual placement rounds.

Debate Competition

About the Activity:

A debate competition was organised for MCA II  students on 20-Sept.-2014. Ten teams were foumed with two students in each team. Five  topics were given for debate :

  1. Internal Exam be kept for University Students
  2. Social Networking Sites be used by the students
  3. “Teachers Day” be celebrated by the students in colleges.
  4. Co-education System be there in the society.
  5. Professional Cources running in the University are Relevant.

Objective of the Event:

  1. To increase the convencing power in the students.
  2. To make the student speak infront of others.
  3. 3. To empower their thoughts.

Technical Mock Interview

Date of the Event:26th September,2014

About the Activity:

A Technical Mock Interview was arranged for MCA III students on 26-Sept-2014 ,9:30 a.m. onwards. Six Panels with two faculties in each panel were formed. The panels conducted Technical Interview and gave suggestions to our students about their weakness and how to overcome them.

Objective of the Event:

  • To prepare our students to face Technical Interview for Placement.
  • To teach them where they are lagging and what they need to prepare.
  • To improve their confidence level for actually facing interview.

Resume and Cover Letter Writing Competition

About the Activity:

The Event “Resume Writing” was conducted on 12th July 2014 for MCA III year students for all the respective divisions A, B, C, D & E. The students participated in the event enthusiastically. The event was organized for creating the awareness among the students about the relevance of Cover Letter writing and Resume writing.

The event was conducted simultaneously in all the divisions of MCA third year by respective faculty coordinators from 12 Noon to 1:30 PM. The winners have been chosen from all the participants.

Spoken Tutorial - Workshop on Java

Date of the Event: 28th July ,2014

About the Activity:

RMD Sinhgad School of Computer Studies conducted workshop for Java on 28th Jul 2014. 185 students, of MCA semester V, were present for the workshop. The videos, downloaded from Spoken-tutorial website, of around 5 hours were shown to students during four day session of 1 and half hour. After providing ample time for the preparations, RMD Sinhgad School of Computer Studies conducted online test for Java on 20th Sep 2014. Out of 185 students who participated in workshop, 135 students appeared for online test conducted by IIT Bombay. 71 students passed the online test in the first attempt. RMDSSOCS is going to conduct the test, for students who either failed or could not attend online test in first attempt, after 5th Oct 2014
